About Aubrey

Aubrey Leatherwood loves language and the way it can be used to communicate the beauty of physical sensation. She adores the body and the way it interacts with well... other bodies. She is also fascinated by the mind and its power. As a result her characters are always intensely physical but intensely cerebral beings as well. Frequently, they possess an awkwardness or nuance that endears them to the reader.

Aubrey has been a sci-fi, fantasy, and horror fan since she learned to read, so she frequently enjoys adding hints of the paranormal and metaphysical into her work. She also enjoys converting world mythology into contemporary stories.

Writing since she could hold a pen, Aubrey is prolific with her work and typically has about six or seven stories or novels going at once.

Aubrey lives in Florida where she works, spends time with family and friends, watches all things sports related, and writes.

  • Good news everyone (forgive the Futurama reference, I can't help it!) FanMail  has been reviewed by Romantic Times and the review is wonderful. Seriously, not quite five stars but the sentiment in the review says it all! Keitha Hart at RT starts off the review by saying This is an emotionally intense novella with believable characters and very hot love scenes. The characters are so finely created that readers will believe Seriously, I couldnt ask for more. Fan Mail has just recently become available at Fictionwise .
  • If You Asked Me To is now available at Fictionwise and Amazon and it is a Recommended Read At AllRomanceeBooks.com, The awesome news just keeps coming in. Susan at ARe writes "If You Asked Me To by Aubrey Leatherwood held me captive not because of the hot sex scenes but by the raw beauty of Ray's feelings for Shelley."

  • FanMail  received five angels and is a RECOMMENDED READ! YAY! Tara at Fallen Angel Reviews says: again with their obvious love and the seemingly massive wall that had come between them. Their passion for each other was palpable and the sex was on the scorching side of hot. Fan Mail was a sexy, gut-wrenching read that will evoke emotions felt long after the final page and comes highly recommended by this reader.

  • I'm going to be interviewed on Fallen Angel Reviews early next month! Yay! As soon as the interview is up, I'll be sure to post a link here.
  • What am I working on? A sci-fi erotica anthology. No, dear friends, you know me better than that, this is not about people having sex in space ;) it's sci-fi erotica. I don't have a title yet, but it's shaping up to be an ambitious endeavor. Wish me luck on doing it well.

March 11, 2011

November 30, 2010

  • If You Asked Me To has been released over on Aspen Mountain Press. So far readers are enjoying the uniqueness of the characters (that's kinda my thing) and the blance of soft and hard in the heroine (also kinda my thing). Take a look at it here .
  • I have started work on the second installment in The People You Know; The Sex They Have Volume II. I think this anthology will lead out with Passing Licks followed by Dirty Words, and rounded out by Eating Fat Alabamians. I don't have a preview for all the stories for you just yet, but they are very much me. My style, the way I do erotica. I'll keep you posted on my progress dear friends.

October 17, 2010

  • And we have a release date! If You Asked Me To will be released from Aspen Mountain Press on November 26, 2010! Fan-flippin-tastic!
  • I just put up a new WIP over on the Books: Coming Soon page. It's called Passing Licks and just like the title, it combines both a bit of sophomoric teasing with intense sensuality. I had so much fun writing it that the story was done in a weekend! Have a look here
  • The first edit of Fan Mail is done! I don't know what to tell you folks. Its about 35K words, and it's full of intrigue, sex, and complications.  Honestly, these two people have to make up one of the more complicated couples I've ever written. One is a model, America's sweetheart, with a very dark side that she can't show anyone. The other is a hot, aggressive cop haunted by his own dark desires and the man he used to be.

September 9. 2010

  • You've waited patiently, and now I'm here to give you what you want! If You Asked Me To has been contracted by Aspen Mountain Press and will be available for your consumption later this year! I'm very excited to work with a new publisher and doubly excited to let you read a work that is so close to my heart.  It's romantic and emotional and I hope youll stop over to read an excerpt.
  • Fan Mail, the follow up to Model Lover, featuring the lovely Alicia Langerud and her ex-nerd-turned-bad-boy boyfriend Tommy Touhy, is coming along really nicely. I'll admit its taking longer than I anticipated, but that is almost always a good thing. The longer, more detailed, more absorbing the story gets, the more you'll enjoy it when it comes out! Promise! I will tell you though, that this story has evolved into what I think may be my first toe-dip into thriller/suspense. Some day I'm going to go all in, the water seems fine :)

June 13, 2010

  • Can I tell you? I'm so proud of Model Lover and of working with Cobblestone. It truly has been a thrill. I am also not just a little bit in love with Blair Langerud, the hunky lead. You can buy the book here . Oh, and get a sample of the scorching hot, follow up story, Fan Mail, here .
  • Emily at Sensual Reads says: Model Lover is a quick read filled with seduction.  Blair knows Pam is the one; he just needs to convince her as well. There is a really sexy moment in the story that readers will delight in, it gave me goosebumps. Read the full review here .
  • I do have a bit of additional news! Shhhhh. If you can keep a secret, I'll tell you Ahem, well, it looks like my lovely work-in-progress, If You Asked Me To is no longer a work in progress, rather a coming soon! Yay!

March 16, 2010

  • Model Lover has been released into the wild! Woop Woop! Get a taste of it here . I truly love this couple. They are mature, sexy, and hot as all hell. Hey, this story is about a couple of retired supermodels.
  • I'm in the middle of writing a revision of Fan Mail, the follow up to Model Lover, but I'll be honest, this little 7K is taking more time than I had initially expected. But trust me, fans, it is definitely worth the wait.

February 12, 2010

  • Fantabulous news people. Yours Truly, Aubrey Leatherwood, has just signed a contract with, drum roll please, Cobblestone Press. Yes, I am now a Cobblestonian (not sure if that is the correct term, but I'll find out :) .

January 22, 2010

  • Guess who just got a CAPA nomination? Me, of course! The People You Know; The Sex They Have been nominated for the 2009 Psyche award from The Romance Studio Cupid and Psyche Awards .  But not only that, it gets better, sooo much better. I, Aubrey Leatherwood, have been nominated for Favorite Erotic Author 2009! Can you believe it? It's wonderful! So I've been posting excerpts and thanks and hellos over at the Yahoo group.
  • I'm branching out! That's right! You're going to see some genres from Aubrey Leatherwood this year. Of course, I've got some contemporary erotica on the horizon, but for sure. I've also got some erotic horror and fantasy on the horizon. I've always written it, but I've waffled on whether to publish or not. Waffling over! Gonna shoot for it. Wish me luck!

  • Dime is available now at Phaze! Have you got your copy yet? Stop by Phaze books and read this funny, sexy, and somehow socially challenging piece? It's a fun ride, cmon, you know you want to. Click here to buy: http://www.king-cart.com/Phaze/product=Dime/exact_match=exact
  • Dime has received its first review! Champagne all around! BD at Book Wenches Reviews gave it a 4.25 and had this awesomeness to say:

"I found Dime to be an entertaining fantasy with clever word play and well-drawn and appealing characters.

Many of the thoughts that the character Nicole has about rap music especially the sometimes misogynistic and hateful lyrics ring true for me. I've never been able to get into it, and quite honestly have always found it to be just so much noise. However, this story reveals an enjoyable and playful side to rap that I never considered. The joy that the character Nicole finds in the rhythm of the music, playing with words, and expressing herself in a tongue-in-cheek manner is very engaging. Her self-deprecating humor and attitude make her quite likeable, and I found myself looking at her as almost friend as well as a fictional character. There is an energy present in Dime that is catchy and irresistible."

In honor of the new stories, I have added a Books - Coming Soon page, go check it out.

  • I am thrilled to report that Imperfection  just received 4 cherries from reviewer Cholla at Whipped Cream Reviews! The review is excellent (despite the readers love/hate relationship with Candace, because hey, we all may have a bit of a tug-of-war with her). Cholla says: A truly wonderful story that everyone can relate to, married or not, Imperfection is one of the most true-to-life love stories I have ever read.  Take a look at the full review here.
  • The People You Know; The Sex They Have has also received a new AWESOME review! Bonnie Jean at The Romance Studio had this to say: She is great at "showing, not telling", and a master at writing erotic love scenes that never seem repetitive. I love this author's work, and if you're a fan of this genre, I recommend reading this collection of short stories. Read the full review here.
  • Dime releases November 2 at http://www.phaze.com . This story makes me laugh a lot and it also makes me think about my own attitudes regarding rap or hip hop stereotypes. Its also pretty sexy. I hope you all enjoy it!
