When they found the child, its head was encased in a fine contraption. A make pretty device. Make so pretty. Cast iron, genius machine. It tightened with screws to make a pretty baby. Brow-almost beetle, still soft-pressed in to pretty. Make pretty the soft skull: nose pinched to straight and upturned, lips squeezed to pout. Train to make pretty baby. Squeeze, squeeze. Long to perfect, short to perfect, wide to perfect, narrow to perfect. Squeeze, squeeze to make pretty, baby.
